Let me just say that the work-from-home-mini-sabattical has turned into a very exhausting, though rather succesful writing-bootcamp. An update is in the works, but right now I'm heading out to enjoy a rare sunny moment and get some fresh air.

I'm a newly appointed Associate Professor in earth science at University above the Arctic Circle. I am also a wife, a daughter, a sister and hopefully still a friend to some awesome people I spend way too little time with. The blog is an outlet for my personal thoughts and a way to engage in discussion with others about academic life and work. I appreciate my readers and your opinions. That's a very nice looking home office, with a great view, nice plants. My office at work doesn't even have a window (whine, whine).

I'm writing from a grey cellar, where the only window is that to my boss's office -- I envy you ;)

What a beautiful view! I can't write at home with the curtains open--I would spend all my time watching the birds and squirrels. My office at work looks out onto a loading dock...lovely!
